Carolyn is a warm and welcoming host and ensures you feel at home as soon as you meet her. She is originally from a farming background and purchased Lower Damgate Farm in 1996. Having worked in the corporate world and overcoming cancer as well as wanting to start her own family it was a dream come true when this run down and derelict property came onto the market. Not to be phased she started out with a small baby and put her heart and soul into providing a lovely home, wonderful self catering properties as well as building a small organic working farm and providing a forever loving home to neglected animals.
Since 1996 the house and cottages (originally cow sheds) have undergone a complete transformation and a program of major restoration was undertaken, initially starting with the farm house and moving on to the cottages which were completed in 1999. All of these have been sympathetically renovated keeping original features and characters of the buildings and working with the Peak District National Park Authority which has enabled Carolyn to provide you with the best holiday accommodation and holiday experiance possible. After dealing with the Foot and Mouth situation in her first year Carolyn has continued to invest in her holiday business and farm and has transformed her properties into a beautiful and homely place for her family and her guests to enjoy year round.
Carolyn lives at the farm with her three children Reuben, Bremen and Hope they continue to manage, maintain and update the properties for your enjoyment, ensuring that your stay is as perfect as it can be. I certainly found this to be so when I stayed here with my family this summer. It is important to them that the properties are right for you and that you have a wonderful time during your stay, with this in mind Carolyn's Philosophy is that “nothing is a problem” and she makes it so.
Carolyn and her family think that it is important for you to feel the ambiance of the farm before booking and a pre visit is always welcomed. Carolyn goes out of her way to make you feel special and provides an intensive helpful list, if that is not enough then Carolyn will happily talk through all your requirements and help you to get the best out of your stay. The family pride themselves on ensuring that you have a warm welcome and a wonderful stay.
