If you would like a wedding that is a completely different experience for three days, relaxed, happy, with your own theme and very much your own thing! With maybe a few goats, ponies and alpacas (part of our onsite animal sanctuary) in your photographs with far reaching stunning views and the odd Hay bale or two, then maybe we are for you!

On our Facebook page you will find lots of pictures of our weddings and charity events as well as details and comments from other suppliers and guests who have visited or stayed at our farm. There are also pictures of the cottages inside and out as well as Dovedale Barn and all the animals.

 

Weddings at the farm are exclusive only to you. You get a unique barn, 20 acres of farm grounds as well as luxury accommodation for you and your guests for three nights over a long weekend. We aim to make your experience a very happy one and there are no hidden costs in our package.

 

We are very much a DIY venue and it is very important to us that you have wonderful memories at the farm so we are always available to answer any questions and be as supportive as we can. We will endeavour to help make your day special and hopefully having got to know you prior to your big day, ensure that your wedding day is personal to you. We are a venue where you can plan and arrange your own suppliers, decorations etc. and have as much flexibility as possible to do your own thing. We believe we are very unique, building upon trust and a attitude that nothing is a problem so we can work together to create the best wedding weekend ever.

If you are a charity or would like to host a local charity event, we offer our barn free of charge for worthy and local causes.

 

With regards to our weddings, we offer you a private venue with complete exclusivity for a three night weekend experience rather than just a day. We are very relaxed with a philosophy that “nothing is a problem”, and give you a blank canvas in which to pursue your own dream wedding or event. We are situated in a stunning setting within the Peak District National Park and as a Private DIY venue guests can chose which suppliers they’d like to use without being forced to have onsite suppliers such as caterers etc therefore you book directly with them. We do however provide a long list of recommended local suppliers and information which our guests find very useful (Please see helpful information page) though this is not a finite list.

We never take commissions from suppliers and only recommend those who we feel are of value to you.

 

Because our package is over three days we have been told that it leaves our guests feeling as though they’ve had a small holiday break with lots of quality time.

Being together with family and friends is very precious and you will have lots of time to catch up with your loved ones. However DIY options are not always the easiest options, but often the most rewarding.

By working together with your guests to set up and take down we realise that a bond grows and this is a very happy time, not only for the bride and groom but for everyone. Sometimes our couples enjoy the use of the Hot Tub whilst their family and friends clean up! The Hot tub is for exclusive use of the bride and groom only during your stay.

We work on Trust and ensure a very relaxed approach especially when everything is in place. Because our events are so personal we get to know you and spend time helping you to achieve your dream day, and because you are not leaving straight away there is the option the following day to enjoy a BBQ or lunch at the local pub. A walk down Dovedale, or creating something special for those staying on site the following day....

........ our guests say this is treasured time.

 

Please remember we are very different from other wedding venues who only offer a day and want you to vacate quickly. You will find our prices are competitive, if not less than those with only the day option. We are very transparent and ensure you are familiar with all aspects of our events before you book.

 

We have 20 acres of grounds at the farm and our beautiful wedding barn can easily seat from 60 - 140 guests for formal or informal dining. We can cater for all aspects of wedding fayre, from Silver Service sit down Meals to BBQs and Hog Roasts. Buffet’s, Pizza Ovens, Tea and Garden Parties, Food in a Van or Horse Box! or "DIY bring and share" including the old fashioned Cake Bake Off!

 

There are lovely outside areas to the barn with far reaching views towards Dovedale and the surrounding land, you can also feed and pet our rescued animals and enjoy the grounds. We mow all the paddocks around the barn for games on the lawn or for your blessing outside. All ceremonies have to be inside!

Hopefully you will be enjoying those long summer days where you can play games and enjoy the views, relax on our outside furniture or straw bales with your pimms or champagne, or both! (we serve all these for you) whilst you host your “Garden Party” or any other themed idea.

 

 

Our event barn “Dovedale Barn” is very unique and feedback from guests who first visit or walk in on the day often comment that it has the “wow factor” it is not something they are expecting at all, though it is still a farm barn with a difference! We have taken nothing away and only enhanced its natural look.

 

Hire for your weekend includes complete exclusivity: with accommodation, venue, farm barn, equipment i.e. tables, chairs, dancefloor and stage, plus greenery and electrics. There is also a welcome area, parlour, bar and cosy corner!

 

Hire also includes the use of our staff for the day. Though hire is on a DIY basis and we expect you to leave the barn and grounds as you found it! However we understand that it takes a lot of clear away on the day so we are not going to leave you with glasses and plates stacked high on your tables! we help you as much as we can ensuring that the barn is as clear as possible by the end of the evening. This leaves it a little easier for you to come tidy, clean and clear away the following day.

 

Our venue is very much a Do it Yourself Theme where we let you create, decorate and plan your own DIY wedding, with the flexibility of using  your own suppliers.

We are still doing works to the barn so I’m afraid that our premises are not yet licensed for civil ceremonies. That is to come. You are welcome to have a natural blessing at the farm but there are also many local places including some stunning churches to hold a ceremony.

 

It is a big thing to create your wedding and it has to be right for you.

We are not your everyday wedding venue but if you take into consideration our quirky rules and restrictions and still want to do the "whole thing" yourselves still want to come and view our venue then we If you take all of that into consideration, read the details below and still at our venue then we would be delighted to meet you and show you what we have to offer.

 

 

 

We are a Private Venue and Prices are broken down to include:

Accommodation. Hire of the onsite cottages is part of the conditions.

 

Dovedale Barn - Price includes the 80'x50 Barn with all the furnishings, plus a separate parlour area for preparation and an internal bar area. Also included are Lights, Tables, Chairs, Dance Floor, Stage, Props, Power and Water. (sadly for Health and Safety No cooking is permitted in the barn)

Help is on hand throughout the day with manager and staff, we help serve welcome drinks, canapes etc as well as help clear up during the day and evening. We will serve your drinks for speeches as well as serve drinks behind the bar. We try and take the stress and worry away from you and generally help as much as we can. (We will only help with catering by negotiation, but we will lay out and cut cakes cheeses etc and ensure everything is a perfect as possible for you. You will find this invaluable by the end of the evening when all your plates are cleared and the tables emptied as much as possible.

 

Grounds and Farm. Also included in the price is the use of the 20 acres of grounds and interaction with the farm animals. Some of these areas are mown so you can have a garden party, others areas are great for exploring, photographs and feeding the animals in.

 

Charity Events and Local Communities. If you would like to hire the barn for an event that does not have amplified music then the price is negotiable dependent upon your needs. Plus we happily let our barn for corporate or activity days.

 

Additionally :

 

For all events at present we will need to hire independent Luxury wash room facilities (Not the festival type but complete luxury) and we charge this to you at cost. From 2018 we hope to have our own inhouse loos in place.

 

Our Wedding package ensures exclusivity, Accommodation for 3 nights, Dovedale Barn for the day of your wedding and time to set up before and take down after! plus all the equipment is also included in the hire of the barn. You also get stunning views as well as lots of pictures and interaction with all the rescued animals on site, which include Alpacas, Goats, Ponies, Ferrets Ducks, Chickens and Geese.

 

Now for the Serious Part, We are a very individual and relaxed venue, with one or two quirky rules!

 

As we are situated in The Peak District National Park these are stipulated in our planning conditions and we could not operate unless they are adhered to:

 

Noise

We have a noise limiter installed, and the barn has also been installed with soundproof insulation, so we welcome Ceilidh’s Good Bands and Disco’s who work with the limiter, but If you are looking for a loud head banging, rock, heavy rave type event or even a full blown Jazz band we are not for you.

Bands are welcome to play until 11pm and then a wind down at lower decibel level for amplified music is welcome till 11.30pm. All non-resident Guests must leave and be off site by midnight.

Parking,
We have a dedicated Travel plan and work with this on wedding days.
We live in a big tourist area, so the rules for traffic and parking must be met otherwise we cannot continue to offer our home for your special day. The best option for parking is to use our local coach company Warrington’s in Ilam 01335 350204 who are happy to ferry your guests to and from there accommodation, to your wedding venue and the farm and then back to their accommodation at the end of the evening. (This option will not break the bank)  By using this system we find that it works really well as it keeps everyone on site and your guests can drink and relax without the worry of driving home.

 

There is also the use of our 20 acres of gardens and grounds, with special use of the hot tub for the wedding couple. You get the scenery, animals, views and us for free!!

 

Alternatively If you would like a really small wedding with just those staying on site (max 28) and therefore not using the barn, then we only charge for the cottages for the weekend and a small venue fee (this is a charitable donation to the animal sanctuary)

 

Other Accommodation:
If you have a large number of guests, you will find additional accommodation plentiful. We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the Peak District and our country road can accommodate over 100 guests in a number of B&B’s and self-catering properties all within a mile of the farm, In addition Ilam Youth Hostel 1.5 miles down the road sleeps 120, maximising numbers and keeping costs low. There are also some lovely hotels in and around Ilam and Dovedale like the Izzac Walton, so choice is plentiful.

As well as venturing into wedding parties we also offer corporate event days, Team building, Hen and Stag parties and Large function events to 30 guests. Specialist parties like 40th 50th combined Birthdays. Charity Functions etc. Our venue is exclusive and private in a stunning setting within the Heart of the Peak District National Park and is a perfect setting for any event.

 

 

PRIVACY ASSURED.

All our corporate away day, meetings and functions are completely exclusive and private. We do not announce who uses our facilities and you can be assured that we never will.

We are not a hotel so do not have all the facilities this would provide as we are self-catering but we try and make your stay unique to you and provide you with comfort, great facilities and a lovely setting in which you can create your own unique team building and meeting experience, with a little more fun! Our secure and private off site meetings can be held without any distractions. We can also provide catering and function room facilities like tea, coffee and cake! as well as technology to ensure your meetings run smoothly.

 

Accommodation is included with the use of Dovedale Barn and any mid-week stays are for a minimum of two nights. We can sleep up to 20 guests if sharing or 13 if everyone would like individual rooms. Many of our clients tell us that our property has provided them with the best situation and position for Team building and team meeting experiences, especially when we have sent them off in the morning on a treasure hunt to find items for their breakfast!

 

Use of Dovedale Barn and all the break off rooms plus the farm grounds and fields is also included.

 

As well as all accommodation on site corporate guests can utilise "Dovedale Barn" for wet weather days or open up the doors for large group gatherings up to 30 guests, whatever the weather.

Tea coffee, food preparation facilities are also available in the barn, as well as the use of tables and chairs etc. For smaller groups the cottages have four break off rooms, The largest can accommodate up to 25 guests seated around tables or on sofas for a more relaxed scene. Our property lends itself to relaxed informal gatherings where you can unwind and distance yourself from the outside world, hopefully making meetings easy and stress free!.

All Hire is on a DIY basis, though we are happy to help you to organise your event and provide facilities to make it easier for you.

We can also provide details of local suppliers from marquees to caterers, Rock Climbing, Canoeing Kayaking, Mountain biking, walking tours, adrenaline courses to yoga or art workshops whatever you require we can source, we can also arrange hot air balloons taking off at the farm.

Alternatively we can lead you off on a treasure hunt around Ilam, Dovedale and the manifold valley. We can lead you on a guided walk or steer you in the right direction for you to create your own package.

 

Our philosophy is that nothing is a problem and our clients tell us that we are a hidden gem, just don't tell anyone!
