Welcome to our Peak District Farm Wedding Page.

If you would like a Wedding or Event that is a completely different experience, relaxed, happy, with your own theme and very much your own thing! With maybe a few goats, ponies and alpacas (part of our onsite rescued animal farm) in your photographs, with far reaching stunning views and the odd hay bale or two, then maybe we are for you!

There you will find lots of pictures of our weddings and charity events as well as details and comments from other suppliers and guests who have visited or stayed at our farm. There are also pictures of the cottages inside and out as well as Dovedale Barn and all the animals.

 

Weddings at the farm are exclusive only to you. You get a unique barn, 20 acres of farm grounds as well as luxury accomodation for up to 28 guests for three nights over a long weekend. We aim to make your experiance a very happy one and there are no hidden costs in our package.

 

We are very much a DIY venue and it is very important to me that you have wonderful memories at the farm so I am always available to answer any questions and be as supportive as I can. I will endeavour to help make your day special and hopfully having got to know you very well prior to your big day, ensure that your wedding day is personal to you. We are a venue where you can plan and arrange your own suppliers, decorations etc and have as much flexibility as possible to do your own thing. I think this makes us very unique and our attitude is based on trust where we can work together to create the best wedding weekend ever. If you are a charity or would like to host a local charity event, we offer our barn free of charge for worthy and local causes.

 

We offer you a private venue with complete exclusivity for a three night weekend experience rather than just a day. We are very relaxed with a philosophy that “nothing is a problem”, and give you a blank canvas in which to pursue your own dream wedding or event. We are situated in a stunning setting within the Peak District National Park and as a Private DIY venue guests can chose which suppliers they’d like to use without being forced to have onsite suppliers such as caterers etc therefore you book directly with them. Though we do provide a long list of recommended local suppliers and information which our guests find very useful (Please see helpful information page)

We never take commissions from suppliers and only recommend those who we feel are of value to you.

 

Because our package is over three days we have been told that it leaves our guests feeling as though they’ve had a small holiday break. Time together is very precious and you will have lots of time to catch up with your loved ones. However DIY options are not the easiest but by working together to set up and take down we realise that a bond grows and this is a very happy time for everyone, not just the bride and groom. Sometimes our couples enjoy the use of the Hot Tub whilst their family and friends clean up! The Hot tub is for exclusive use of the bride and groom only during your stay.

We work on Trust and ensure a very relaxed approach especially when everything is in place. Because our events are so personal we get to know you and spend time helping you to get the the best out of your day. Because you are not leaving straight away, often our guests have a BBQ or go to the local pub, walk down Dovedale, or do something special for those staying on site the following day. This ensures quality time with family and friends, or those you may not have had time to talk to on your actual wedding day........All our guests say this is treasured time.

 

Please remember we are very different from other wedding venues who only offer a day and want you to vacate quickly. You will find our prices are competive, if not less than those with only the day option. We are very transparent and ensure you are familiar with all aspects of our events before you book.

 

We have 20 acres of grounds at the farm and our beautiful wedding barn can easily seat from 60 - 120 guests for formal or informal dining, Sitdown Meals, Hog Roast, Buffet’s Pizza Oven, Tea Parties or even old old English Fish and Chips!.

The Barn does comes with a large paddocks beside it for those long summer days where you can play games or have the option of a “Garden Party” or any other themed idea to incorporate both the inside and outside areas and the view down the valley is lovely.

 

Our Visit England four star accommodation is on site and booked as part of the package. The cottages sleep up 28 guests (plus cots) in 13 bedrooms. Some rooms are on the ground floor which helps for disabled access. 

 

Our event barn “Dovedale Barn” is very unique and feedback from guests who first visit or walk in on the day often comment that it has the “wow factor” it is not something they are expecting at all, though it is still a farm barn with a difference! We have taken nothing away and only enhanced its natural look.

 

Hire includes exclusivity, accommodation, venue, farm barn, equipment ie tables, chairs, dancefloor and stage, plus greenery and electrics.

In addition you will have to use our staff on the day itself as well as a bar person to serve your drinks. At the moment you will also have to hire luxury wash room facilities or any equipment you may want in additional to those included in the main price.

 

We let you decorate and plan your own DIY wedding, with the flexibility of using  your own suppliers and getting the most out of the day and weekend that you want. This is very much a Do it Yourself Theme.

 

However with the DIY element of your event, we DO expect you to leave the barn as you find it! Having a DIY wedding is NOT always the easiest option, but often the most rewarding.

It takes a lot of time and planning to ensure your weddng day is perfect for you, and if you take all of that into consideration and still want to do the "whole thing" yourselves then you are welcome to come and visit and see what we have to offer you. We do have staff to help on the day (not with catering) and we try and leave it as clear and tidy as we can by the end of the evening so it is not as bad as it sounds.

 

I’m afraid that our premises are not licensed for civil ceremonies, though you can have a natural blessing here.We provide you with a very helpful list of places to get married, as well as neighbouring accomodation, caterers and suppliers who will provide you with local and excellent services.

 

We are transparent with our prices and these are broken down for you to include the Accomodation and Barn.

We are a Private Venue and Prices range from:

Accomodation. This includes 13 bedrooms and sleeps up to 28 Guests onsite.

Prices for the accomodation are Seasonal from Low (Nov - March) Mid (March - June, Sept - Oct) High (Easter, Half Terms & End of July, & the start of Sept) Peak (Mid July & August)

 

Dovedale Barn - Price includes the 80'x50 Barn with all the furnishings, plus a seperate parlour area for preparation and an internal bar area. Also included are Lights, Tables, Chairs, Dance Floor, Stage, Props, Power and Water. (sadly for Health and Safety No cooking is permitted in the barn)

Help is at hand on the day with me and my staff, we help serve welcome drinks and clear up during the day and evening, as well as serve drinks behind the bar and generally help as much as we can, though we do not help with food or catering accept put out cakes cheeses etc and ensure everything is a perfect as possible for you. You will find this invaluable by the end of the evening when all your plates are cleared and the tables emptied as much as possible.

Grounds and Farm. Also included in the price is the use of the 20 acres of grounds and interaction with the farm animals. Some of these areas are mown and have play equipment, others are great for exploring and feeding the animals in.

 

Charity Events and Local Communities. If you would like to hire the barn for an event that does not have amplified music then the price is negotiable dependant upon your needs.

 

Additionally :

 

For all events we will need to hire independant Luxury wash room facilities (Not the festival type but complete luxury) and we charge this to you at cost. This ranges from £295 - £495 dependant on numbers.

 

Our Wedding package ensures exclusivity, Accommodation in 13 bedrooms for 3 nights, Dovedale Barn for the day of your wedding and time to set up before and take down after! plus all the equipment is also included in the hire of the barn. You also get stunnning views as well as lots of pictures and interaction with all the rescued animals on site, which include Alpacas, Goats, Ponies, Ferrets Ducks, Chickens and Geese.

 

Now for the Serious Part, We are a very individual and relaxed venue, with one or two quirky rules! well three actually!

 

Firstly,

Parking, You may think this odd as we do have 20 acres of fields, though from May till July we are growing and making hay for the Animals, therfore our fields are not an option. Also with living in the Peak Park we have a lot of holiday visitors on our roads and the Highways prefer we don't add any more! We have a dedicated travel plan, and though we do have enough parking for guests in the cottages and small weddings at the farm this plan has to be adhered to. For larger weddings we prefer you to organise a "pick up drop off" service to your guests, This usually means picking up from their respective places of accomodation (locally) and then getting them taken home at the end of the evening. In our experiance this is a brilliant option as it ensures everyone can enjoy themselves without the worry of driving! and that they also stay onsite with you till the end of the evening, (or earlier if you prefer an ealier and then a late pick up in the evening) We have a brilliant Coach company called Warrington’s Coaches in Ilam on 01335 350204 and they are very helpful and are the only local company we use.

 

The Second Rule is:

Noise! Consideration to our neighbours is paramount and though Music is welcome, it must adhere to the decible rules set by the council on our Noise Limiter (Electronic Orange). Amplified Music must finish by 11.30pm and No loud music is allowed on the days prior or following your event. We are happy to have Ceilidh's, low key bands and Disco’s but it is the bass, drums and loud speakers that are a problem and a noise meter is in place to monitor this. So if you are looking for a loud head banging rock, heavy rave or even a full brass band type event we are not for you.

 

and Thirdly, vacation of the premises for those not resident and not staying onsite must be by midnight as we cannot go into a Sunday.

Most guests stay within the vacinity and as well as our four star cottages, you will find local additional accommodation plentiful. We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the Peak District and our country road can accommodate over 150 guests in a number of B&Bs and self catering properties. (I provide a list of these if you book) plus there is also Ilam Youth Hostel in the National Trust Grounds 1.5 miles away as well as 4 star luxury Hotel accomodation down the road. Therefore you can maximise numbers and keep costs low.

 

Hire of these properties is independant to us, and I would highly recommend them. If you are having a smaller wedding booking these properties is ideal as it enables everyone to be within walking distance.

As well as venturing into wedding parties we also offer corporate event days, Team building, Hen and Stag parties and Large function events. Specialist parties like 40th 50th combined Birthdays. Charity Functions etc. Our venue is exclusive and private in a stunning setting within the Heart of the Peak District National Park and is a perfect setting for any event.

We work in partnership with Peak Outdoor events and specialist event management companies to help you get the best out of your stay. We are also happy for you to bring your own in house team to prepare your own meeting and event.

As well as the 4 star accomodation on site corporate guests can utilise "Dovedale Event Barn" for wet weather days or open up the doors for large group gatherings whatever the weather. Tea coffee, food preparation facilities are also available in the barn as well as the use of tables, chairs etc. For smaller groups the cottages have four break off rooms, The largest can accomodate up to 25 guests sitting around tables or on sofas etc. They lend themselves to relaxed informal gatherings where you can unwind and chill making meetings easy and stress free!.

Hire is on a DIY basis though we do help you to organise your event if you want us to and provide details of local suppliers from marquees to caterers, Rock Climbing, Canoeing Kayaking, Mountain biking, walking tours, adrenaline courses to yoga or art workshops whatever you require we can source, we even have hot air balloons taking off at the farm.  Alternatively we can lead you off on a treasure hunt, guided walk or steer you in the right direction for you to produce your own event of the year.

Our philosophy is that nothing is a problem and ensure it is kept that way! Our clients tell us that we are a hidden gem, just don't tell anyone!
